2009 Club and Sports Class Nationals

Lake Keepit Soaring Club is hosting the 2009-2010 Club and Sports Class National Gliding Championships

Comps at Lake Keepit

News Update!

The club has been a hive of activity recently with preparations for the comps. The greensmen have been out on the strip, digging irrigation ditches, planting, spraying watering, hoeing and levelling so that take offs can be on a smooth and dust free area of the strip.

There are still some spaces in Camp-o-tels in the state park if anyone needs accommodation. Think these are slightly upmarket tents with bunk beds kettles and microwaves and presumably lights.

Tugs

It looks as if there will be a full complement of six tugs with Darian Thom flying the Club's Callair and the trusty Juho flying Brad Edward's Pawnee IGR.

The Tug hangar has been cleaned, vacuumed and polished in preparation for holding the briefings. Weather for the comps will be courtesy of Harry and Wendy Medlicott… Wendy will fly the temp trace in her Jabiru each morning and Harry will mastermind the weather and task sheets each morning.

Tasks

Bruce Taylor is task setter in chief and is keen to send gliders to the east if it is safe to do so. The club had a camp up in Kentucky last weekend and everyone had a ball with heights up to 13,000'.

Booze

Robin Walker is manning the bar and has provided claims he has stocked it full of drinks for Queenslanders… presumably of a type that won't affect their flying.

Catering

Wendy and her gang of helpers are doing the catering for lunch and dinner. We have the offer of an Asian Night and the final dinner will be at the Sport and Rec club in the park with full table service.

The cost of the final dinner is $45.00 per person. Anyone not attending the competition who would still like to be part of the final dinner will be very welcome but please let Wendy know if you intend to come by the beginning of the competition.

Wendy says "I am looking forward to the laughter and friendship in the kitchen each day and the satisfaction of the pilots and crews with the quality of the food." Three chef's hats then! Breakfast is a continental or full English breakfast (on a strictly DIY basis)
